This year Disrupt HR is back again with a bang. The event which allows industry professionals to discuss a wide range of topics on Human Resources will be hosted in Barbados on April 19th from 6pm-9pm at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael.

Organizer of Disrupt HR Barbados and owner of HR@Heart Consulting Inc Julie Turney said the concept of the event is built on the belief that the traditional methods of managing people and talent are no longer sufficient thus Disrupt HR sought to bring together thought leaders and change-makers to share their insights and ideas in a dynamic and interactive setting.

“Disrupt HR events feature fast-paced presentations from a diverse range of speakers who are given just five minutes to share their innovative ideas on a variety of topics related to human relations. These bite-sized talks are designed to challenge and inspire and will leave you with plenty of food for thought,” she said.

Some of this year’s speakers include Marcia Armstrong, Charles Harper, Sandra Vaughan, Desiree Edwards, Karenthia Barber, Celia Collymore, Dr. Glenda Gilkes, Sally Reid, Jameela Broomes, Tracey Knight- Lloyd and Lynette Taylor and the event is being hosted by Gaynelle Marshall.

Turney said persons can get ready to expect awesome presentations from the 14 speakers who are all bringing their A game on the 19th April 2023.

“Get ready to rock and roll because our speaker lineup is pure dynamite! We have got not one, not two, but fourteen rockstar speakers who are ready to take the stage and share their ideas on how to make the world of work a better place for everyone. But wait, there’s more! Each speaker is given just 20 slides and they only have 15 seconds on each slide. That’s right, they’ve just got five minutes to deliver their message and ignite your passion for change. The speakers will discuss a wide range of topics, from diversity and inclusion to mental health in the workplace, from innovative Human Resource Practices to the power of storytelling in employee engagement. So, get ready for a whirlwind of ideas, insights, and inspiration,” she said.

For the past four years Disrupt HR has become the go-to event for industry experts and business professionals. Reflecting on the journey she said that she is pleased that despite starting Disrupt HR at the beginning of the pandemic that she has been able to continue to provide the space for professionals to shine.

“We started at the beginning of the pandemic, and we were only able to host one face-to-face event before the lockdown. After that, we had to take the events virtual, which came with its own set of challenges because the originators of the event series did not want organizers to use the same format that is used in the face-to-face setting, so the team and I had to get creative. We were able to host panel discussions on thought-provoking topics related to navigating the pandemic, and they were very well attended.

Our biggest challenge has been with acquiring sponsorship, but it has not stopped us from moving forward. Our vision is clear, and we will succeed no matter the obstacle. I am proud to say that coming out of our last event in Barbados on October 25, 2022, two of the speakers from Guyana and St. Maarten respectively, have since purchased the licences to host DisuprtHR in Guyana, Suriname, Belize, St. Maarten, Anguilla and Curacao and we are looking forward to supporting them in launching in these countries,” she said.

This year not only will Disrupt HR be hosted in Barbados but it will also be held in Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica on June 28th, 2023, and September 27th, 2023, respectively.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Terri-Karelle Reid as our host for DisruptHR Jamaica and we are looking forward to working with her and building the event series there. It is always our endeavour to have a diverse mix of local, regional and international speakers for these events as we see this as a great way to share diverse thoughts on how to make the workplace better,” she said.

The HR professional and businesswoman said that Disrupt HR Barbados 4.0 also encourages the members of the audience to participate as well as they could walk away with prizes from their sponsors.

To this end Turney wished to thank her sponsors and team for their dedication to ensuring that Disrupt HR Barbados 4.0 is successful.

“I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, Payce Digital, RF Bank and Trust, HR@HeartConsulting Inc, The Job Connect, Bajan Fusion and The Caribbean Society for HR Professionals. More importantly I would like to thank our team Katrina Howell-Thomas, Maria Rowe, Andre Rock, Aura Telman, Rachel Reid, Christal-Ann Downes, Kerri-Anne Brathwaite, Tiffany Jones, Jasmin Turney, Gaynelle Marshall, Dr. Rochelle Haynes, and Gale Wiethers.
